Jessica Lea Mayfield confirms spring tour

JESSICA LEA MAYFIELD CONFIRMS SPRING TOUR

MAKE MY HEAD SING… OUT APRIL 15 ON ATO RECORDS, NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER

“I WANNA LOVE YOU” PREMIERES AT STEREOGUM, “OBLIVIOUS” PREMIERES AT ROLLING STONE

“…matches a grunge-era deadpan with gnarly leftfield roots music in service of haunting, smoldering rock ’n’ roll.”—Stereogum

“Mayfield’s echo-laden bluegrass vocals mesh with scorching electric guitar lines to render remarkable results…”—Rolling Stone

Jessica Lea Mayfield will embark on a nationwide U.S. tour this spring, including dates at New York’s Mercury Lounge and Cleveland’s Beachland Ballroom. See below for complete details. The tour celebrates the acclaimed Kent, OH native’s highly anticipated album, Make My Head Sing…, which will be released April 15on ATO Records and is now available for pre-order with an instant download of the single, “I Wanna Love You.” Physical pre-orders can be purchased at www.jessicaleamayfield.com.

Already receiving widespread critical praise, Stereogum calls “I Wanna Love You,” a “…darkly entrancing single," while Rolling Stone describes the track “Oblivious” as “…[an] innovative, genre-bending number…” Moreover Brooklyn Vegan asserts, “…it sounds like she’s been listening to a good deal of sludge metal, with raw, thick riffage that’s up there with many of the more likely Sabbath worshippers. Her voice remains gentle though, making for a pretty interesting mix.” Both tracks can be heard/embedded here—“I Wanna Love You” and “Oblivious.”

Make My Head Sing… was co-produced by Mayfield and her collaborator, bassist and husband Jesse Newport and was recorded at Nashville’s Club Roar studio. Of the new music Mayfield comments, “The whole record is just me and Jesse and my drummer Matt Martin. I think a lot of my favorite bands are guitar, bass and drums. I wanted to simplify things. Bands are so big these days, I wanted to get in the studio and make a rock record and hear real guitar tones and something heavy.”

Make My Head Sing… follows Mayfield’s 2011 release, Tell Me, which was produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and was described by Rolling Stone, which named her an Artist to Watch, as “a disarming collision of stark country balladry, dynamic alternative rock and arty electronic pop.” Additionally, the Associated Press asserted, “Tell Me is the portrait of a precocious girl growing into self-assured womanhood and a producer reaching the peak of his powers. It is a dark and moody album, full of delights throughout, and if it doesn’t make Mayfield a star, that too will be heartbreaking,” while Spin Magazine included Mayfield in their “The Next Big Things: 11 Artists You Must Hear in 2011” feature, calling her a “smart-ass country-rock ingénue.” She also made her network television debut on the “Late Show with David Letterman,” performing the album’s first single, “Our Hearts Are Wrong,” which NPR Music praised as “…genuinely moving” (http://tinyurl.com/4fn93o6).

About King Krule:

As King Krule, 18 year old south-east London based singer/producer/songwriter Archy Marshall has quietly and stealthily crafted a reputation for himself as one of the most raw and startling voices of a new generation. With his unexpectedly deep and mournful baritone tracing fissures of disappointment and social disorientation to devastating effect, Marshall has harnessed the inchoate frustration and fury of youth and translated it into a series of brilliant singles released on the likes of True Panther Sounds and Rinse over the past few years.

Now comes 6 Feet Beneath the Moon, his first full-length on XL Recordings/True Panther Sounds, and with it, the much anticipated unveiling of the full scope and scale of Marshall's vision. Over the course of 14 tracks, Marshall's passions and confusions are rubbed raw and laid bare, the only connective tissue throughout it all being one of searing lyrical clarity paired with a confounding musical deftness which utterly belies his tender years. From the opening clarion call of "Easy, Easy" it is abundantly clear that this is a breathtakingly bold and arresting sonic worldview, as his songs, produced by Marshall along with Rodaidh McDonald (The XX, Savages), open up to become a loose knit meditation on regret and discontent, loss of faith and renewal of hope, and optimism in the face of desperation.

Eschewing much of his previously released material, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon firmly yet soundly rejects any notion of contemporary trends or peers to occupy its very own unique place on the music landscape, oscillating gently between the classic 50's soul of Gene Vincent and Elvis Presley to the minimal, avant-garde experimentation of Penguin Café Orchestra, to even the electronic smog and dub textures of Marshall's beloved Rinse FM. This is a record where the nakedly bluesy stomp of the likes of "A Lizard State" and "Easy, Easy" sit effortlessly next to the low-end frequency and shimmering beats of "Neptune Estate" and "Will I Come," after all. It is reflective as much of Marshall's own eclectic tastes as it is of the frenetic pulse and rhythm of the city around him, particularly the rapidly changing south-east areas in which he grew up. There is a genuine grittiness and world weariness ingrained here, as exemplified so succinctly when Marshall sings, "Hate...runs through my blood" on the stunning "Out Getting Ribs," the track which started all the fuss.

All these esoteric textures and fidgety, off-kilter rhythms make perfect sense as an album however, especially when you consider that incredible voice. Whether he is singing ruefully of youthful disaffection and "the heat of my own treason" ("Ceiling") or spitting out venomous lines like "I'm not going to crack like you cracked...I don't want to be trapped in the black of your heart" over the jittery "A Lizard State," its clear that something which marks Marshall out is his stunning ability to turn intense emotional peaks and troughs into spectacular pieces of artful, atmospheric and anthemic balladeering.

Some of the imagery is disturbing to be sure (as on the closer "Bathed in Grey" where he offhandedly murmurs that he "there was blood...found a body in the dark") but the songs are also imbued with genuine heart as well, as epitomised on his heart rending update of "Out Getting Ribs." Taken as a whole, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon is the sound of a young man growing up - not for nothing is this album being released, unconventionally enough, on a Saturday, which also marks Marshall's 19th birthday - and attempting to grapple with the realities of the world he inhabits, an unsparing dissection of the social decay that has begun to set in around him - and a fascinating, brutal journey it is too.

Brian Eno Announces New Album With Karl Hyde 'Someday World'

ENO • HYDE
NEW ALBUM SOMEDAY WORLD

RELEASED MAY 6th ON WARP RECORDS

Brian Eno and Karl Hyde come together with a new album to be released this May on Warp Records.  Someday World comprises nine songs, composed and sung by Eno & Hyde together with a highly distinguished cast of supporting musicians, including Tessa Angus, Nell Catchpole, Marianna Champion, Will Champion, Kasia Daszykowska, Don E., Darla Eno, Georgia Gibson, Andy Mackay, John Reynolds and Chris Vatalaro.

The release was produced by Brian Eno with 22 year old Fred Gibson, continuing an ongoing collaboration between Karl and Brian which sees the two together on a complete album for the first time.

“A lot of the nicer cities I know are cities built on hills, and the cities are beautiful because the buildings have a challenge to adapt to. They have to mould themselves around the geology that they've formed upon. And that always makes for very interesting buildings, because they can't just be blocks, they have to somehow morph around the environment. A lot of the constructions on the album were deliberately irregular and awkward.

I had a big collection of 'beginnings' sitting around waiting for something to galvanise them into life, to make them more than just 'experiments'. That something turned out to be Karl Hyde.”
- Brian Eno

“It's a bit like being nine years old again.  You have no idea what you've just been given, the record button has been pressed and you're on. And then these unlikely patterns start to happen. The biggest surprise was discovering we both had a love of Afrobeat, Cyclical music based in live playing. When Brian played me these early tracks it was, 'Oh my god, this is home! Can I borrow a guitar?”
- Karl Hyde

Someday World is released on Special Edition 2CD (with four bonus songs), CD, Double Gatefold LP and Digital formats. Subscribe at www.enohyde.com for more information and for first news of new music.

Tacocat's NVM out today!

TACOCAT'S NVM OUT NOW! WATCH "ENHANCED" VERSION OF "CRIMSON WAVE" VIDEO

VIDEO - "Crimson Wave" [enhanced version]
VIDEO - "Crimson Wave" [dir. Marcy Stone-Francois]
MP3 - "Crimson Wave"
MP3 - "
Bridge to Hawaii"

Today, we're proud to release NVM, the new record from Seattle-based pop-punk feminists Tacocat. To celebrate, the band will play a free, all-ages in-store at 6 PM this evening at Sonic Boom Records (2209 NW Market St). The band’s music video for their wildly popular, feel-good menstrual anthem of the year, “Crimson Wave," has now been updated as an enhanced video that features factoids, jokes, and other captions which appear throughout in the grand tradition of '90s music television (for legal reasons, let's say their inspiration rhymes with "shmop-shmup shmideo").

The band sets out on a nationwide tour early next month, including multiple showcases at SXSW. See below for a full list of dates. Review copies of NVM are available upon request.

About the record:
Like a fluorescent-lit snack-aisle oasis in some desolate interstate road stop, brimming with Skittles and limited-edition Sno Balls, Tacocat's Easter-egg-hued pop-punk-pop is bubblegum-sticky with hooks, bound to brighten up the most drab stretch of bummer backroad.
The band's four-person, seven-layer-burrito came together organically: Lelah Maupin (drums) and Eric Randall (guitar) met in their native Longview, WA—two hours south of Seattle, the very town that Green Day named their breakout debut single after. Lelah's family room was wallpapered with framed Magic Eye posters, hence "Stereogram," the cross-eyed love letter to that bizarre ‘90s optical fad. She met lanky Eric while both worked at Safeway, wearing the chain's distinctive navy aprons before breaking north to Seattle. Eric's band The Trashies practiced and played in the basement of the 24/7 House in the Central District, where Long Beach, CA native Bree McKenna (bass) was living, amongst the dust, boxes, and spiders. Lelah met Butte, MT native Emily Nokes (voice, tambourine) in one excruciatingly early/boring graphic design class, slipping her a doodled-upon note; she soon noticed Emily's big voice while she sang along with R. Kelly on the radio. Emily and Bree hit it off one sloshy night at the Comet. Eric impressed Emily with his reenactments of scenes from Anaconda. Sometime around 2007, via countless raucous house party shows, the legend of Tacocat was born.
The foursome would quickly make a name for themselves with their simply energizing power pop, drawing on classic Northwest energy with an uncommonly upbeat, surfy swag that could only come from gray skies and hydroponic sunshine. Their sly and unabashed ‘90s revivalism has, in the past, found the band pondering Evan Dando and Waterworld—and Bree herself explains finding about riot grrrl via Napster and Julia Stiles in 10 Things I Hate About You. They've described themselves variously as "Feminist sci-fi" and "Equal parts Kurt and Courtney"; oh well, whatever…NVM

Mike Love of The Beach Boys Releases New Song in Tribute

MIKE LOVE OF THE BEACH BOYS RELEASES NEW SONG IN TRIBUTE TO GEORGE HARRISON

PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACK "PISCES BROTHERS" AVAILABLE NOW TO STREAM VIA SOUNDCLOUD at http://bit.ly/1mBKtEe

LOS ANGELES, CA - FEBRUARY 25, 2014 - Legendary singer/songwriter Mike Love, co-founder of The Beach Boys has officially released "Pisces Brothers," a solo single in tribute to The Beatles' George Harrison, who would have been 71 today.  The previously unreleased track was written in 2004 and inspired by a shared trip to India in 1968 when Love joined The Beatles, Donovan, actress Mia Farrow and others in search of spiritual enlightenment through the teachings of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

For Love, the song is a special reminiscence: "This being the 50th anniversary of The Beatles coming to America, I wanted to commemorate this incredibly significant trip we all took together to India, at the Maharishi's invitation. It was enormously influential on all of us, most especially George. The song is really sentimental for me, and meant to honor George Harrison's remarkable contribution to music. And how, in this one moment in time, we got together, as the song says, not fortune or for fame, but for enlightenment."

Mike Love titled the song "Pisces Brothers," as he and Harrison shared the same astrological sign, and celebrated their birthdays together in India. A number of Beatles and Beach Boys songs grew out of the 1968 trip including the Beatles' "Dear Prudence" and "Sexy Sadie" as well as The Beach Boys "Anna Lee, the Healer." Love has continued the practice of Transcendental Meditation for over 40 years.

On February 20th, Love received The Ella Award by the Society of Singers, where he joined a prestigious array of previous honorees including Smokey Robinson, Elton John, Celine Dion, Barry Manilow, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and the award's namesake, Ella Fitzgerald. The event, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, was filled with one-of-a-kind musical performances. Al Jardine, David Marks and Bruce Johnston, as well as music legends, Bill Medley, Dean Torrence, Micky Dolenz, Christopher Cross and America all performed and spoke of Love's legacy in music and accomplishments as a singer and songwriter. Stars including Rita Wilson, Lucy Lawless and John Stamos also delivered poignant tributes to Love and his extraordinary half-century career in music.

For the first time ever, David Lee Roth and Mike Love took the stage in a duet of "California Girls" which was a hit song for both of them. Love also brought The Waters Family (also honored by the Society of Singers) on stage to debut a new original Mike Love song, "Unleash the Love."

"No producer, no engineer, no A&R people, just us two in a big concrete room in Kreuzberg, jamming and recording our songs whenever we wanted, how we wanted with nobody to answer to except ourselves. The Horrors unveil new album Luminous

THE HORRORS UNVEIL DETAILS OF THEIR 4TH ALBUM LUMINOUS OUT MAY 6 ON XL RECORDINGS
LISTEN TO FIRST ALBUM CUT "I SEE YOU" NOW
Recorded over 15 months in the band's east London studio-laboratory-bunker with co-producer Craig Silvey (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, The National), Luminous is the follow-up to the band's 2007 debut Strange House, the Mercury-nominated Primary Colours (2009), and the critically-acclaimed Skying (2011) - a record that entered the charts the UK charts at number five, featured prominently in the end-of-year magazine/newspaper polls, and was anointed NME's Album Of The Year.

Luminous is trailed by "I See You," which received its first broadcast earlier today on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. The seven-and-half-minute synth anthem was recently unveiled at The Fly Awards in London, where The Horrors were joined onstage by Thurston Moore and Stereogum exclaimed "the song is a pulsating jam that pushes eight minutes and sounds like the first Horrors song that could really fill a stadium."

Listen to "I See You" now on YouTube: http://youtu.be/CN0jkdTvl9s

Tasking themselves with, as ever, moving onwards, The Horrors determined to make an album that was brighter, more positive, more electronic. 'We've refined our sound," affirms lead singer Faris Badwan, "and in terms of songwriting it is the record I'm happiest with." Or, in the words of bass player Rhys Webb, "it's not so much about heavier guitars as a heavier potency... We want to make music you can dance to, music that elevates..." Luminous by name, luminous by nature: this is an album radiating light and energy. These songs are The Horrors writing at their instinctive, intuitive and accessible best.

Shedding some light on the intra-band, in-studio creative process, keyboard player Tom Cowan mentions a an ever-evolving playlist featuring "so much, the usual - Beatles, Sabbath, Kraftwerk also Eno, J Dilla, Metroplex/Trax Records...but as always psychedelic music from all over the world, soul, funk, dub..."

Further input came from producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Paul McCartney, Foster The People) on the track "Falling Star." There was also a crucial role for a new piece of kit. Badwan reveals that Richard Russell, boss of their label XL, "had the pyramid synth from our "Changing The Rain" video built for us."

The Horrors are Faris Badwan (vocals), Joshua Third (guitarist), Tom Furse (keyboards, synthesizers), Rhys Webb (bass) and Joe Spurgeon (drums, percussion).

Album pre-orders are available from midnight on iTunes, with "I See You" available as an instant grat track to anyone ordering Luminous. "I See You" is also available to buy as a standalone track.

Luminous Tracklisting:
