Following the release of the band's recent single "Thorns", Los Angeles' Lo Moontoday share the track's vivid visuals. Coupling the song's lush arrangement with interpretive choreographed movement and a colorful backdrop, the short is perfectly complementary.
Of the video, director Tarik Karam offers: "When I heard the song, I immediately fell in love with the idea of taking an entire relationship - from its birth - and compressing it to the length of a 4 minute song. The song has this incredible ability to be both full of love and desire but also sad and mournful. I felt that using split screens to allow us to see multiple stages of a relationship would convey a similar powerful juxtaposition."
"Thorns" is the most recent cut to emerge from the band's long-awaited debut album due for release in early 2018. The track glides with a delicate intimacy led by Matt Lowell's syrupy croon atop an expansive synth soundscape, replete with additional brass work, showcasing Lo Moon's most meticulously-constructed moment to date.
Today's announcement coincides with news that the band's upcoming headline show in London has sold out. The California-based trio will continue to act as main support on London Grammar's huge EU tour, and then head back to the US to open for The War on Drugs. The band has previously opened for Phoenix, The Lemon Twigs, Temples, MUNA, Glass Animals and Air.
Despite having only released three singles to date, the Columbia-signed three piece led by Matt Lowell have already been covered by prestigious outlets such as New York Times, NPR, Variety, Noisey and The LA Times, and will now start to showcase new music at these upcoming dates.
